Best Video Out Right Now. Hands Down.

Time for another irrelevant post. I haven't done one of these in a while.

You have to love this video if not for the classic hip hop albums then for her creativity. ...and the 'Hey Ya' spoof part.

...and for the non hip-hop/soul portion...IT'S FEIST.

For your viewing pleasure...

Street Fighter II: The Later Years

Part II? If I get nothing from Lu it will come tomorrow. Or you can just go on YouTube yourself.

N.E.R.D. on Letterman

So, I love NERD. I always have. I am also always checking for new appearances for them, Lupe, and Ye.

About twenty minutes ago I found out NERD was gonna be on Letterman. & I was gonna turn in early tonight. Thanks to the good 'ol Sprint I found out.

You're welcome.

Oh yeah, 11:35 pm EST on CBS.

*FAN SPOTLIGHT* This guy is effin great.

His art is probably the greatest I've seen in a while.

But that's just my opinion. You can make your own.

He's KidNinja on flickr and supermanisback on Deviant Art..just in case you wanna look him up. Check out his stuff here at flickr and here at Deviant Art.

I agree with KayCee on this one.

But this is how I put it on my blog.

Vote for Lupe as the best please. Thanks.

Actually. Vote for anybody but Lil' Wayne. I mean seriously.

Okay, I'm being biased. Vote based on how much TALENT and THOUGHT actually goes into the stuff the artist say/write.

I can not stress this next part enough.

Please, please, please! DO NOT vote based on image.

Please DO NOT vote based on wether or not you like how he dresses.

Please, do not vote based on things the artist may have said or acted in the past.

Please, do not vote for somebody because you think that's who your friends would vote for. If it helps, go listen to songs from everybody and then come back [no radio singles though].

THINK PEOPLE.

- - - - - - - - - - -

And no...I did not do all of that just to tell you to vote for Lupe. I did all that to tell you to vote for anybody but Wayne. Thanks.

Hey, the other artist up there get dicked enough....no homo.

_________________________________________________________

Wow, I sound like a hater. LOL.

You did good son.

So, Lupe was really good on the Tonight Show w/ Jay.

I got to see Headlines [anybody who knows me knows I love Headlines] and Lupe was on which meant it was a great show for me. Sarah Green was great.

The only problem I had with the whole thing was Jay.

How do you go from saying Lupe Fiasco 5 times in a row to saying Loopy Fiasco 4 times in a row.

I mean come on.

Lupe Fiasco x Fred Astaire

This is what a slow Lupe week will bring you. A weeks worth of YouTube videos. Enjoy.

Fred Astaire: "Superstar" by Lupe Fiasco ft. Matthew Santos

and just for the hell of it...

Kanye West x The Nicholas Brothers

and...Crank That Superman, You Soulja Boy Astaire

...I will hate myself for posting that last one later...

Instant Classic? In Caliente x Paris, Tokyo..

The second third greatest thing I've ever seen.

I think I said the second was that 'And He Gets The Girl' video made with The Sims.

I think this is better than that though...

The person that made this [DS9Sisko] has other videos similar on YouTube so go check them out.

A recommendation would be Give It Up x Twista/Pharrell and Crank That Superman, You Soulja Boy Astaire. Yes, its Fred Astaire dancing to Soulja Boy. It's actually great.

Slight disappointment, maybe?

I kind of figured they wouldn't have time to do HHSML and Paris, Tokyo.

It seemed like Nikki was really looking forward to that. They probably did it as part of the concert series but I checked and it's not up.

They go Fat Joe's weak ass up there though and he's on tomorrow...

...if only you could see the face I made when I typed that...

Oh, yeah YOU'RE WELCOME TAI!!

LOL.

------- U P D A T E --------
...I really don't like how that looks but whatever...

Monday, February 25, 2008

Okay so everybody knows it's been a slow week....

And me being the goofy person that I am... thought this was hilarious...

...I posted one like this for Superstar w/ the video a while back on my other blog. That one was funnier because it actually looked like Lu was saying it.

...Anyway, watch Lu on Carson Daly Later tonight [1:35 AM]. Technically that's Tuesday morning but whatever. I'm sure you can wait until probably like 1:50 and then tune in.

Tuesday night don't forget to watch The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno to see Lu.

You should already know I'll be watching it...because I love that show...

Babies...dancing to Go Baby!

'effin adorable.

'Go Baby' Fan Video

Yeah, the one on Lu's site was cute...

but this one is cuter.

Friday, February 22, 2008

3 days in a row, BITCH!

Lu's still #1 on 106. Hey maybe they'll have to retire it.

Wishful thinking? Maybe.

...but if you dream why not dream big, damnit?!

Other Lupe Appearances

Okay, for the ones that missed it Vh1's Hip Hop Honors will be on tomorrow at noon and again at 9 am EST on the Tuesday that Lu will be on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno [11:35 pm EST].

Later tomorrow [3:30 pm EST] MTV2 will be playing the episode of Wild n' Out that featured Talib Kweli and had Lupe as a music guest.

Go to LupEND for info on Lupe on Carson Daly.

Put You On Game Video/ A Scanner Darkly

The editing is perfect on this one.

This video contains clips from the movie ' A Scanner Darkly' which was released in 2006.

The following was taken from wikipedia:

A Scanner Darkly is a 2006 film by Richard Linklater based on the Philip K. Dick novel of the same name. The film tells the story of identity and deception in a near-future dystopia constantly monitored by intensive high-technology police surveillance in the midst of a huge drug addiction epidemic. To give the film its distinct look, the movie was filmed digitally and then animated using interpolated rotoscope over the original footage.

The film was written and directed by Richard Linklater, and it stars Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Woody Harrelson, Robert Downey, Jr., and Rory Cochrane. Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney are among the film's executive producers. A Scanner Darkly was released in July 2006 in limited release, and then widely released later that month. The movie was screened at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and the 2006 Seattle International Film Festival. The film was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form in 2007.

The title is a reference to a verse in the New Testament of the Bible, 1 Corinthians: 13:12: "For now we see through a glass, darkly."

For more information on the movie check out the official site here. It's actually really...cool. LOL.

Interview with Sean of lupEND.

This is the first of hopefully a series of interviews I will be doing with fellow Lupe site owners or ..prominent Lupe fans. If that makes any sense.

Sean runs the Lupe blog lupEND. I think of that one as an international Lupe site while mine is more of a fan based site while Lupe's favorite girls over and The Lupe Fiasco Show have a more general one.

Anyway, I recently got a chance to talk to Sean about his intrest in Lupe and he clears up the confusion about his famous Glow In The Dark Mixtape.

Lupe The Killa: Okay, so I need to get some basic stuff out of the way. Basic stuff like name, alias & age..

Sean Smith The Future Blogger: I'm 22. My real name is Ludwig and my alias is Sean Smith The Future Blogger. Some people also call me Jeezy.

LTK: Where'd the Jeezy nickname come from?

Sean: Well it hasn't to do anything with the rapper. Basically, it was el-jay first but then some people said Jeezy sounds better so I left it that way.

LTK: Oh okay. That's good to know. Okay a question about your blog. Since possibly millions of people will read this...maybe..explain to the ones who don't know what the whole 'Amajanese' thing is about.

Sean: Alright, I got the inspirtaion for that when I heard Gold Watch because Lupe raps about how he has American and Japanese influences. So, I thought how can you put that in one word? So I came up with the word "Amajanese". And I basically want Lupe to use it on one of his next projects. It stands for the mix of American and Japanese culture.

LTK: Seriously..I really think he should mention it. What was it about Lupe that made you make a site for/about him?

Sean: I think his lyrics and the whole music he does comes from his heart. And there are not a lot of Hip Hop artists that make music about real life issues that people can actually relate to. But Lupe does that and that's one main reasons. I also really like his style and that he's a little nerdy. It's good to hear music that's not about bitches and guns and all that.

LTK: Yeah, I know what you mean. Would the lupEND blog be the first time you ever did anything like that?

Sean: I did blogs before but I never really lasted that long. Now with the blog about Lupe I found something that's really important for me and I really care about it. So it's the first time I have a blog for more than 2 months.

LTK: What/who were the other blogs for?

Sean: I did one basically about Hip Hop and entertainement. It lasted 2 weeks. And the other one was about female skater and it also lasted 2 weeks.

LTK: LOL, okay. So, to the Lupe questions. What was the first song you heard of his?

Sean: It was Touch The Sky with Kanye.

LTK: Same for me. I actually listened to it on my computer for the first time and while I was listening to it I started looking for stuff by him on Limewire...but this isn't about me, LOL.

If you could only listen to one of the 2 for the rest of your life [for whatever reason] which cd would you pick. Food & Liqour or The Cool?

Sean: Ah damn...that's a tough one. I think I would pick The Cool. Because I like the content of it more and I really like Matthew a lot more on The Cool. And my secret crush Nikki Jean is on there, too. Yeah I would pick The Cool.

LTK: LOL, everybody loves Nikki. Okay so, if you were trying to introduce somebody to Lupe's music and they only agreed to listen to two songs. What songs would you play for them to try and get them hooked?

Sean: Somehow depends on the other person but I think I would play Streets On Fire because it's really catchy and deep at the same time. And I would play Dumb It Down because it's my favorite right now and if you don't like Lupe after that song you'll never like him.

LTK: True. Then again, I've played that song for someone and they didn't like it. To me that meant they didn't understand it so I left it alone. For now. But..do you think you really know Lupe's songs? This answer will determine if we do what I consider the fun part..

Sean: Do you mean all the lyrics or the meanings behind them?

LTK: Lyric wise. I think some of the meanings differ. It depends on the individual listening. Lyric wise and maybe song titles.

Sean: Alright. I'm bad lyric wise but we can try it just for the fun factor.

LTK: LOL, Okay. So,..wait before we do that I meant to ask you 2 "Either/Or's". Tilted or Tilted In Any Colour You Like? & vacation wise..Paris or Tokyo?

Sean: Tilted and Tokyo

LTK: Okay. Just give me the next part from this line "Cuz I know I'm not the smoothest..."

Sean: Ah damn. Is that from He Say, She Say? I told you I suck at stuff like that.

LTK: LOL, I'll give you a hint. It's from 'And He Gets The Girl'

Sean: ...told myself i shouldn't do this.

LTK: Yep. He Say She Say was the father/son thing lol. You think you could guess the song if I give you a whole line?

Sean: Yeah

LTK: "You can't destroy me, know who dem boys be/ I ain't no employee" I couldn't give you the next part because that'd give away the song. Just to let you know..all the ones I mention are gonna be from mixtape songs. Albums are too easy, lol.

Sean: I should go back and listen to the mixtapes.

LTK: Okay, we'll end that then, LOL. It was Boss Playa. But lemme see...I had more questions anyway.. Don't worry though I'm almost done.

Sean: Oh..I could go on for hours...lol.

LTK: LOL, too bad I don't have hours worth of questions. I couldn't think of much. I'm sure I'll think of stuff I should of asked later. Two more "Either/Or's" first. Fast food or home cooked? and Boat or Plane?

Sean: Home Cooked. I love my mom's food...and I'll take the plane.

LTK: Good choice. I only asked the boat/plane thing because of Dumb It Down. Okay two more questions.

Sean: Alright

LTK: 1. What Lupe song has the most meaning to you?

Sean: Probably He Say, She Say because I never really had a father so sometimes I can't even listen to that track.

LTK: Wow. I'm sure you're not the only one. I've heard that alot. Okay..so 2. What does the line "When the fighters are all around, all the lovers are underground" mean to you?

Sean: What does it mean to me? I think you need bad stuff to appreciate good things. That's pretty much what it means for me. The more bad happens to you the more you can appreciate the good things... Don't know if that made any sense...but that's how I see it.

LTK: I understand what you mean. It's kind of like the whole thinking that you have to have bad relationships to appreciate a good one.

Sean: Yeah, pretty much.

LTK: Okay, I know I said two more but really quick..what are some of your other favorite artist in hip hop and other genres?

Sean: I like Kanye West, N.E.R.D. , Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def, M.I.A. Linkin Park, U2, Coldplay...and of course Nikki Jean and Optimus.

LTK: That's great. Okay then..thanks for the time and maybe we can do this again. Maye next time I'll be asking you what it felt like to hear Lupe to use 'amajanese' on lupEND.

Sean: Oh yeah that would be cool. Thanks for having me...just really quick can I say one more thing?

LTK: Sure.

Sean: Alright about that Glow In The Dark Mixtape. I did the cover with the 3 heads on the black background and I compiled the tracklist so it's more like a compilation. There has been some confusion if it's official or not. Just to tell everyone once and for all...it's not. And oh yeah shout outs to Lupe, Nikki, Optimus, everyone from FNF, The Femmes, and everyone who reads that.

Visit lupEND.
Dowload the Glow In The Dark Mixtape here.

Lupe on Jay Leno.

Did I ever mention that I love late night shows?

Specifically Jay and Conan..

Anyway, I heard our favorite rapper was gonna be on the Tonight Show (with Jay) on the 26th. Thats a Tuesday. You're welcome.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Oh, that's just nasty.

But it's still funny to me for some reason...but still nasty.

LOL.

HELL YEAH!

Lupe is #1 on 106 & Park.

Another sign of the movement?

Fresh Much?

This may be actually kinda old. Okay it is. It's from about 2 days after The Cool came out and it's an interview with Rhapsody Music Blog. It's pretty good though.

Preview.

You said earlier that you created this tale in order to step away from yourself and tell a story. Do you think that hip-hop listeners obsessed with authenticity are willing to accept this artifice?
I don’t know … some are. Some people may not look at their own work as art, but I do. I look at MF Doom almost as if he’s Picasso. I look at the grotesqueness of what he does. It’s so out of the ordinary, that it becomes grotesque the way that some of Picasso’s paintings can be considered grotesque. To really stretch it, you look at Warhol or Basquiat, and they peed on their paintings to find the right color, oxidation or what have you. I look at that.

But that’s me on a deeper level. That’s Wasalu Jaco more than Lupe Fiasco, that’s the crazy little nerd who knows all the words to every "Voltron" cartoon and wants to know the meaning behind Mumrah. This is my entertainment. This is what piques my interest. Some people might just be entertainment. But a lot of people look at it just as deeply, or even deeper.

Want to read the rest? Here you go.

Look What I Found.

Remember the story about how Lu got his name. We know now [not that I ever doubted it...I mean seriously] that he was telling the truth.

But it's the name of the play he helped with. This was back in 97-98. It was a state final entry for a drama competition.

Lupe watches Conan O Brian?

Ha! Another reason I love him. If you don't watch Conan...you are living a meaningless life. LOL. Anyway. Here's his interview with MTVU. Yes. I'm late. Your point?

Lupe Fiasco - LIFE. A Fan Made Video.

This is kinda deeper with the pictures.

Instant Classic?

Now this is more like it. It's a reader review. They're a little late on the whole Kick, Push thing..but still..

Preview.

"I do not like mainstream popular Hip-Hop. Telling people how to do a dance over lame beat does not make you a rapper. It makes you a dance instructor. I don't want to Supaman or walk it out. I want to listen to real music with real issues. I had essentially given up on hip-hop. Long gone, it seemed, were the days of Illmatic, Midnight Maruaders, It's Dark and Hell is Hot, replaced by no talent hacks claiming to be artists. Then a few months ago I stumbled acrossed a song the geniusly weaved a coming-of-age story with the backdrop of skateboarding. This song was "Kick, Push," the artist was Lupe Fiasco. Shortly after hearing the song I went out and bought Fiasco's debut album, "Food and Liquor." Hip-Hop was not dead. The praises of "Food and Liquor" are well known. It was a brilliant debut effort from Chicago's Lupe Fiasco. I didn't think he could top it. I was wrong."

-- The rest of this can be found here at IGN.

Lupe Fiasco: Imitation could kill ‘The Cool’

One of the worst reviews of the cool. Not because they didn't praise it but because they didn't understand it. Their main point it seems is that Lupe is copying. Specifically Kanye.

Really?

It's not all bad though.

Preview?

The Good.
"The excellent “Little Weapon,” which features one of Lupe’s smoothest flows ever, is set to a marching snare cadence, adding a very harsh edge to the tale of struggle and strife. “Go Go Gadget Flow” may be the fastest Lupe has ever rapped, spitting rapid-fire syllables over one of the coolest beats on the disc."

The Bad.
"Singer Matthew Santos seems like a low-budget version of Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who appeared on West’s latest. The use of vocalist Nikki Jean is a blatant attempt to capture a Black Eyed Peas-type vibe, as her voice is nearly indistinguishable from the Peas’ Fergie."

It can be found here.

We're Back In Business!!

My internet is back. Looks like it was really a simple remedy after all. Gotta thank my momma for that. LOL. There will be many changes to this site. Only because of the fact that I'll be out of work and non-busy until the first week of March. There are also changes in motion over at She's Cool Like Dat [formerly known as Waste Not Fresh Tears].

But anyway, I have an update that I don't think many people would have. Sorta.

In the new Jan-March issue of Salon Digest magazine they have a little piece about the whole men and scarves fashion trend. In it they have Lupe, Kanye, Omarion and a couple other people whos name I can't remember at the moment.

They also have an article/interview with Mr. West himself.

Be sure to check that out..at your local beauty supply store....

Happy Birthday To Ya!

Yes, I decided to go extra black for this one and sing the Stevie Wonder version to Lu.

I'd written out this whole nice thing for Lu about maturity and talent and age and wisdom and blah blah.

Unfortunately, I dropped my phone and it didnt save so I will leave you with this quote by our [Lu, Bishop and I] good friend Abe Lincoln.

"And in the end it's not the years in your life, it's the life in your years."

Happy Birthday Mr. Jaco. Much love to you.

And now back to my movie...Revenge of the Nerds IV. How fitting.

The movement is catching speed..

Okay, we all know I don't watch television [well I do, just not music countdown shows] as much as I should so I also didn't know until today that Lupe was still on 106 and #2 at that.

But that my friends is not why I believe the Lupe Fiasco movement is catching on.

I actually got my little [15 year old] brother, who insists on listening to nothing but Lil Wayne, to listen to Lupe the other day. To add to that...it was Dumb It Down! He used to tell me 'turn that mess down/off' when I played Lupe through the house. Then again I would play it all day. That's besides the point though. I got a 15 year old who grew up on mostly bullshit rap to show intrest in and actually like one of the most complicated rap songs ever made.

I had to first tell him the 'my mind's on cloud 9 and in her mind at the same time' line was about head before he would listen to the rest but you gotta do what you gotta do. That is signifcant progress in my eyes and the ends justify the means.

One more thing, my internet down until further notice [damn Verizon]. I just did all this from the Sprint and there are too many updates for me to type out from my cell. So do yourself a favor and check out the FNF blog ring to your right.

Peace...my thumbs hurt.

More MTV commercials...

So I saw at least 3 Lupe related clips/commercials today. 2 of them looked like they were from the tour. I couldn't really tell becaused I was supposed to be working, lol.

Are they finally catching on? I wonder what sparked that...

Monday, February 11, 2008

Paris, Tokyo..

I'm at work right now and I thought I was hearing stuff but I think I heard Paris, Tokyo in the background of a commercial for rintgones on MTV.

I just thought you should know,

Congrats Mr. Jaco

Well deserved Grammy, brother. I can't wait until next year when you get 2-3 for The Cool. Wishful thinking?

We'll find out next year.

Sunday, February 10, 2008

Second and last reminder.

Remember to tune in to the Grammys tonight. Check your local listings for times.

Best of luck to you Lu [& Mr. West].

The 2008 Grammy Awards

Sooo the Grammy's are this Sunday. I personally don't really care for the show too much anymore because the whole system they have is flawed and they put the same people on all the time and blah blah blah...

Anyway, as you may know our favorite rapper [and your favorite rappers favorite rapper] is up for one of those coveted Grammys yet again. This time its for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for Daydreamin' ft. Jill Scott.

He's up against:
Vikter Duplaix - Make A Baby
Dwele - That's The Way Of The World
Meshell Ndegeocello - Fantasy
Alice Smith - Dream

Honestly, I have no clue who anybody else on that list is except for Dwele. & with that being said..if the same thing happens here that happened with Kanye...let me not make that negative comment. I don't know who they are but I don't wish them luck either because I just flat out don't want them to win, LOL.

BUT

at the same time..if Lupe doesn't win this one I'm protesting the Grammys...

maybe...

Maybe I'll just watch when Kanye performs or something and not watch the rest of it....

it'll be on youtube within the next hour anyway...

Just an early reminder...

Lu's b-day is the 16th. Right? Right.

I would get you something buddy but I'm not because...honestly..you make probably about 10,000x's more money than me and I just quit my job so.....

Besides, what do you give the man who has everything?

Or even better what do you give the man who has damn near everything and whatever he doesn't have he can fly to Paris and get tomorrow?

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

And the winner for biggest Lupe hater goes to...

...the fine people over at Idolator. Congrats people! You are officially the biggest Lupe Fiasco haters. You win this award because unlike other haters who hate individually and may occasionally join forces, you hate collectively. How great is that?!

smh.

**as seen on WNFT.

Lupe Calling Out Audience Member

Yeah. Soooo Lu's favorite ladies over at Lupe The Fiasco posted the article about this earlier..but I GOT THE VIDEO!! Ooooh IN YO FACE!! lmao. Just kidding..

And that right there...is why I LOVE Lupe.

She's finished..

They should be done by now. Now I'm gonna give Lupe a week at the least to get it out. Thank you Mr. Jaco.

Analysis of '...And He Gets The Girl'

from Song Meanings.

One persons opinion:

"Lupe..a nerd in high school, likes a girl. shes in the popular crowd..goes up to her one day and "just get up and say hi"

and he tells her about himself...he then compares their interest in music..."oh you like linkin park, thats the hat from the tour" so they both have the interest in music...

then after he says allll of that...he feels stupid..."then i walk away" and he regrets doin it...but then the girl comes back and is like JO! youse a cutey! and she tells him about herself...and happily ever after...this is the only litteraly lryical song lupe has hahhaa...everything else is all metaphors that i neverrrrr get till i have to read about."

Another persons opinion:

"Actually k. west I think that this song is actually a metaphor and is not straightforward as it seems. I think that the "girl" in this case is hip-hop.

I think the first part is about how he approached hip-hop (the girl) and was initially attracted to it but "wasn't well suited for it" becuase he was kind of a nerd and wasn't into the vulgarity that came along with hip hop.

"And then I walked away, thinkin she would never talk to me"- After initially being turned off by hip-hop he quit rapping, thinking it wasn't for him.

"Then I felt a hand on my shoulder. She said I know your not the coolest but I swear you are the cutest"-"The hand"- Rappers like Nas and Too $short inspired him to return to hip hop because they showed him that you dont have to be "cool" and rap about women, gangs, money etc. and that you can be yourself.

"Man that's really funny how we like the same music"- Here Lupe talks about although he and the girl (hip-hop) were very different, they both shared common music interests.

They both like jazz (Thelonis Monk was a jazz pianist). Hip hop originated from jazz.

They both like Linkin Park (Meteora and Hybrid Theory were Linkin Park albums). Jay-Z released a mash-up album with Linkin Park in 2004.

"I hate first person shooters (me too)"- He doesn't like the violence in hip-hop.

"Half of tha cheerleading squad is in the stouper
Tha only reason I do it cause of my mother took state when she was a junior"- Here Lupe is talking more or less on how hip-hop is dead (in a stupor) because rapppers are just doing what others before them did because they think thats how hip-hop should be.

"And she want me to du tha same so I'm like naw
I wanna be an oncologist and diagnose tumors"- Lupe wants to do is own thing and make a positive impact on the world.

Anyways, just my two cents. Maybe I'm overthinking it and its just a straight forward narrative, but I really think that the girl represents hip-hop."

I don't know why I never made that connection. This is the first and ONLY time you can say I'm slow and I won't beat your ass for it.

Okay, well I thought of it once I think. Just not to that degree.

Lupe Fiasco is a genius. It's been said before, yes. But I said it again.

Now what are you gonna do?

Go to Song Meanings for the rest of this.

"Lupe Fiasco forced me to pay attention"

Lu, I am going to be writing and open letter to you pretty soon. You CAN NOT retire. I won't let you. Wait..as long as you do FNF radio forever then I should be fine...i guess...anyway..

This is from a boxing message board.

"I wasn't around for "Protect Your Neck" or "Nothing but a G Thang", but I imagine people felt that same thing I felt when I heard Lupe Fiasco's "Superstar". I was captivated by his lyrical mastery, flow, and how he doesn't need BS filler lyrics complete with gangsta references they themselves aren't really familiar with.

I guess part of it also comes from Matthew Santos' chorus, which really sets the mood. Nonetheless, Lupe Fiasco has my attention, even though I'm mad late on him."

"Yeah, I was shocked too when I first heard Lupe because i didn't expect anything like that from the new schoool of rappers. The presence of guys like that opens the door for more real artists."

Great stuff.

A Reviews of "Fighters".

A Blog review..

"Only Lupe and Matthew Santos could pull off this magic together and come up with a completely new sound that redefines hip-hop's current styles. Not to mention the lyrics are insightful, and to a large extent, universal in their appeal. Lupe does a great job throughout "The Cool" of creating suggestive art which allows it to speak to the listener on a number of levels."

"One thing I think I have picked up on from watching, listening and talking to Lupe is that there is always something beneath or behind what he is doing, and most often, it is not what you would expect. All the better."
