*CLASSIC* Gemini

Gemini/GemStones White Chalk Berg, et al.

I normally don't do this but ummm...

Wow that was real R.Kelly/B2K remix of me...

Anyways...

Dude made a beat for Lu. I agree..he would be wonderful on it..

..a freestyle maybe? Possibly? Think about it?

I'm trying to help. It may not get far cuz Lupe doesn't even read this..or does he?

Little Weapon Video

Found this today. It's not the official video but it is pretty good.

*CLASSIC* Lupe on Letterman**

It's not even that old but this performance was beautiful.

Look out for Va$htie

She's an Upstate New York girl, Albany to be exact, but the 23-year-old School of the Visual Arts alumna is as NYC as a MetroCard. And as downtown as Canal Street. Born Vashtie Kola, the upstart director's love of film began when her parents made her older brother and sister drag her along with them to the movies. After graduation, her passion eventually landed her a gig in the video and creative department of Def Jam. But her real big break came when she recently funded and directed a clip for the Kanye West/ Lupe Fiasco/ Pharrell Williams mixtape track "Us Placers." The Web video features mini-me versions of the three rap titans, replacing the original stars à la Biggie's "Sky Is the Limit." Next up for Vash is more script-writing and continuing her and her partner's successful 1992-theme parties — where the music is all about the last decade — as well as starting a line of accessories and clothing called Violet. "It's ultra-hard," she said of juggling her many endeavors. "But I'm sure it's satisfying in the end."

''The Wire'' Holds Auction For Baltimore Charity, Gets Help From Lupe Fiasco & Q-Tip

That was cleverly titled..

While HBO's hit series "The Wire" shows the rough side of Baltimore's streets, the area's youth will benefit from a charity which is raising money in the show's name.

The Fader and HBO recently held "A Night at The Wire" events in New York and Baltimore in celebration of the final season of the series and to host an auction of "Wire" paraphernalia

Auction proceeds will benefit the Ella Thompson Fund, an organization that supports recreation programs for children living in inner city Baltimore, as well as programs that connect children with the natural environment.

People interested in participating in "The Wire" auction, can also visit eBay and bid on items which include copies of each season of "The Wire" on DVD signed by cast members, Jeff Staple-designed sweatshirts signed by celebrity "Wire" fans like Wyclef, MIMS, Q-Tip and Lupe Fiasco as well as posters and soundtracks also signed by the cast. [Click here to visit "The Wire" eBay auction]

"The Wire" fans can also visit www.ellafund.org to donate to the cause or purchase limited edition "A Night at The Wire" t-shirts, designed by "The Wire" costume designer Alonzo Wilson and art director Halina Gebarowicz. The shirt logo was designed specifically for the "A Night at The Wire" Charity and Celebrity Auction, where it was given out to attendees. All sale proceeds benefit the Ella Thompson Fund.

"The Wire" airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.

And the greatness ensued....

I went to the show last night at the NorVa. I have pictures upon pictures to get out there to the people. Great pictures too because front row is the shit. I think I may have made eye contact..not sure, there were too many damn people. LOL. Then this one big broad kept bumpin me and swinging around..but I digress.

Here's an update from the UK charts. I missed a lot of other stuff do to ...unforseen circumstances..yeah that's what we're gonna call it.

Lupe Fiasco and "Superstar" slipped one to five on the singles chart.

and...

In a top 10 with just one new entry -- rapper Fiasco’s album "Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool" coming in at seven.

Getting ready for an 'amazing' night...

Right now I should be packing my bag for tomorrow morning. I leave at 5 and at about this time tomorrow I should be halfway through the show by the fiasco they call Lupe. I expect greatness. I will be taking pictures the whole 3 1/2 hour trip as well as the show so that you may share in the greatness that is Lupe Fiasco. LOL. If anybody is going to the show @ The Norva, feel free to say hi. I'll have on my 'A Rhyming Ape' shirt. Yessir. Oh, by the way... I'll be blogging it from the Sprint instead of the PC until Tuesday...when I won't blog again until after I see Lu on TRL. That is all.

The Coolest [Remix]

Lupe Fiasco feat. Jonathan Emile - The Coolest Remix [NEW]

**Things made by fans will now also have the tag Superstars as well as Finds until further notice.

Didn't that sound all official? No? Okay.

Lupe Fiasco - I Gotcha [Remix] with video

I will be probably always have at the least 5 or 6 post a day because of the reasoning in the last post.

John Mayer ft. Lupe Fiasco

Before I get into this I thought I should briefly explain the whole concept behind Lupe The Killa [[the blog]] and why our..or should I say my slogan is "In the streets where the traffic be, nigga what" from Don't Get It Twisted [[one of my favorite songs by the way]].

This isn't going to be your typical fan blog. I'm actually going to try and focus on Lu as well as his fans. This is like a blog for Lu fans by a Lu fan. I guess...

That's partially why I will be posting things fans created or said and I will try to keep most of the reviews down to ones I get from blogs instead of big names like XXL, Rolling Stone, etc. I mean that stuff is important but ...this isn't brief anymore..so here you go..

He is definately a performer...and a little goofy maybe?

BUT..I love him anyway..

He refuses to answer the girls question until she does the "Kid & Play" dance with him..

Why does he remind me of a baby in one of those high chairs..you know when they're kicking their legs around and they don't really have control over the movements...

*Classic Lupe Interview*

And on the heels of the Classic Blog comes the Classic Interview...

You ever notice how I like to start entries off like I was already in mid-sentence? hmm...

Lu talks about some stuff back in October of 2006 that caused controversy when he brought it up recently. He's telling the truth maybe? Maybe?

Anyways...[[I say that often too]]...here's a little taste..a tid-bit if you will..

The last time I interviewed Lupe Fiasco, I did it for Pitchfork. This time, as soon as he saw me, he said, "I don't even know why I'm talking to you guys," and he brought up every problem he had with Sean Fennessey's Pitchfork review of his album and the 7.9 rating that it got....

Do you think it makes sense to make plans this far in advance at a time when the music industry is floundering?

The music industry is wack. I think we got too caught up in the numbers. I don't really think people were selling back in the day like that...

Something that I've learned from knowing a few people who make music is that when somebody thinks that something is their best album, it's never their best album. They get into their headspace, people telling them that they're right all the time. Do you ever worry about that happening with you?

You kind of start living in a bubble. You never know the real impact of your music unless you force yourself to participate in arenas which are shunned by your fellow artists. Like the internet; do you know how many rappers aren't on the internet, don't know what's going on, don't care? It's shunned; it's nerdy.

So you talked about killing people.

Yeah, but this is what people don't understand about me: I've had a gun since I was like twelve. My gun, given to me by my father who was in the military, who taught me how to shoot when I was four, how to shoot AK-47s and take apart M16s. I used to write my raps with my 9 millimeter right there. I understood what it was for, and it went from the stage of being like, "I have a gun, and I'm not going to kill you, but I'll defend myself" to getting caught up in the industry: "Yo, I'll shoot you." And then it got to the point where you can't explain that to people, you can't explain your history of it. Everybody's not going to read that one interview where you do, so I'd rather just not talk about it at all.

...and we see exactly why today...

Lupe Fiasco Presents...The Art Of Distraction

Hello again…

As I type this I’m on the road heading to Boston or someplace to promote the album…I got my MacBook Pro in my lap and I’m bumping Daft Punk in the headphones…The van is fulla bags ’cause I have to carry three times the amount of luggage of a normal person…Here’s the breakdown…

1 Part Regular Everyday Clothes
1 Part Clothes For Photoshoots
1 Part Clothes For Performances

Add in another bag with just sneakers and the bags of my entourage and you can pretty much see the picture…”Robot Rock,” by the way…

For this entry I wanted to let ya’ll in on a little secret…I’m here to distract you…yup yup that’s right…me and all my fellow brothers and sisters in the wonderful world of entertainment are merely distractions to keep you from focusing on what’s really goin on in the world around you…Spooky ain’t it?

Now, this aint a grand conspiracy to trap your mind and transform you into mindless uniformed cogs in the machine…Or is it? Some distraction is necessary and even therapeutic…”HEY look a flying saucer!!!” and as you look up, I pull the splinter out of your finger or something…or other methods to draw attention away from the pain so the problem can be fixed…sorry kinda rambling…

anyway, the point is, music, movies and TV are mediums of distraction used to kinda numb the pain, which in cases where the message within the distraction is one of an informative and positive uplifting nature it can be very good thing. The danger lies where the message in the distraction is one of destruction and cannonfodder. These distractions are the ones that flood media today and really nothing meaningful is extracted from these…and believe you me that the distribution of this kind of information is done very deliberatly by the powers that be…the goal of this society is not to uplift and meaningfully inform, because that is not its nature…

The nature of this society is to gain capital and maintain an unfair balance of power that resides in the hands of the producers…Consumers are meant to do just that: consume…To inform the consumer in a meaningful manner means to empower him and give him aspirations to become a producer…The producers know that this is a threat to to their position of power. If consumers all of a sudden start wanting to become producers themselves and become aware of the tools to do so, it upsets the balance and starts making things fair and harder to gain capital because people would just consume the goods they produce themselves…which goes against the nature of the society…

So to maintain society, the consumers are kept dumb…and not just on a level of intelligence, because truthfully the consumers are either on the same level or even smarter than the producers…the consumers are kept dumb on all levels from the knowledge of opportunity to how to grow food to the operation of a sewing machine…Ask yourself, did you create any of the items in the room you are sitting in right now?…Secondly, do you know where they came from?…The raw materials used to make them?…Their origins?…The process that renders the raw materials into usuable materials?…Can you produce any of the food in your refridgerator?…If u can’t (and trust me, I can’t either) I think you pretty much know where you stand…and I don’t think 98% of the magazines or newspapers or CDs or movies or television programs are going to teach us how…

I mean, who owns the companies that distribute these things???…I bet you know the correct operation of a semi-automatic firearm and the ingredients and cooking instructions to make freebase cocaine and the proper technique of felatio and the winner of the last NBA championship and how Paris Hilton looks naked and that Christopher Columbus discovered America and how much a Maybach costs and…Hey, me too!

I close on “The Primetime Of Your Life”…Daft Punk is soooo fresh…

If you want it though you can get it here at CD Universe.

Lupe talks why he only wants yellow M&Ms, living in Paris, & his novel.

He talks about a novel he is working on, his Chicago anthem, how Chris Brown declined to appear on The Cool, & how he wants nothing to do with Vibe.

I may be late..but it wouldn't be the first time. You take that how you want to...

Some of the main interesting parts for the lazy who don't feel like reading the whole thing.

Briefly run down the concept for your new album.

For this album, it picks up on a [song] from the first album called “The Cool,” which is about a hustler who gets killed and comes back to life and who digs his way out of his own grave, and goes back to his old neighborhood and gets robbed by these two kids, ironically with the same gun he was shot with. I kind of took that story and expanded on it. I just started to tie in all these different stories and characters and plots, to make it kind of the pre-history for “The Cool.” So, it’s about how The Cool starts off as this little boy, he grows up without a father, he’s raised by The Game, falls in love with The Streets, goes on to be this big-time hustler, gets killed, and comes back to life. He ends up at the crossroads with the little kids.

I went back and took the little boy from “He Say She Say,” off the first album, and now he’s The Cool. The three main characters, The Cool, The Streets, and The Game, they’re all walking, talking characters. The Cool is played by Kadeem Hardison, from A Different World. The Streets has dollar signs for eyes, and tattoos of all her slain boyfriends across her chest. She’s like a temptress, almost. When you see her tattoos you see Al Capone and Alexander the Great and King Tut. And then you have The Game, who is an amalgamation of all of those vices in the world. He has dice for eyes, he has bullets for teeth, he has crack pipes for lungs, and he breathes crack smoke, and his suit is made out of blackened dollar bills. It’s a really graphic, really intense kind of character.

[The concept is] only on five records, and some of it is done kind of abstractly. The artwork ties everything in, and if you want, you can go backwards into [my] albums and the mixtapes, and figure out the characters and the story. A lot of my fans are doing that now. It really has kind of a cinematic feel to it.

The Cool seems pretty light on big name guest appearances and producers. Did you consider trying to get will.i.am and T-Pain and Akon and all of them?

I had a song called “Blackout,” which is probably going to pop up on one of these store’s bonus tracks, and I was trying to get Chris Brown on it. And they turned us down. [Laughs.] I was like, “Oh, okay.” So, that was probably the only attempt to try to get somebody huge. But, I really like Chris Brown. He’s dope.

Your new song “Gotta Eat” is told from the perspective of a cheeseburger, and it’s about the lack of healthy food in many black neighborhoods. Do you avoid trans fats and fast food and all that?

No, not at all. I’ll eat a bowl of grease. Solidified, white, crusted, all with a spoon....

Oh really? Wow.

Us Placers on Rolling Stone Top 100.

"The song, with its Thom Yorke sample, was No. 43 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007."

At least it wasn't 100. I'm happy.

Say it with me now..hhaatttteeerrrr.

1st installment. Positive there will be more.

Hater #1.

...In the beginning...

And so it starts...

This is the start. Yes, a very weak start but a start nonetheless.

I'm not exactly too happy with the blog name at the moment but I'm not at my most creative at 2 in the a.m. That and the fact that I can always change it at any time I choose to allows me to at least start it.

And sooo...I bring to you...

Lupe The Killa ...that's killa with an A, yes.

And we're in the streets where the traffic be, nigga what.
